Our Client-Centered Approach To Therapy

Life can be really tough, and there are times when we all truly need help and support to navigate difficult challenges. If you, your child, or teen is struggling, you likely want to get on track soon as possible. You do not have to do it alone. Therapy can help you clarify concerns and overcome issues beyond what you previously thought possible.

In our private practice, we seek to create a tranquil, non-judgmental, and welcoming environment in which you, your child, or your teen feels comfortable exploring conflicts, concerns and issues. When you and your child come in, you can relax and just take a breath. We strive to provide a space outside the stress of everyday life, where we all can be our true, authentic selves.

Everyone who walks into my practice is unique, which is why our approach to therapy is client-centered. We want to help people harness their innate potential and use it to achieve what they want in life. Throughout our work together, we are committed to honoring wherever you and/or your family may be, and developing age-appropriate treatments that specifically address you and/or your child’s personality, beliefs and therapy goals. Even though you may be coming in for individual or family counseling, depression therapy or anxiety treatment, everyone experiences these issues differently. With our experience and backgrounds, we are able to draw from a variety of approaches, such as play therapy, art therapy, role-playing, hypnotherapy, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy and more to get to the heart of the issue in ways that feel manageable and even fun. Even though your challenges may be serious, we do not believe that therapy needs to be scary or boring. Our experiential approaches are interactive and designed to help all my clients feel heard, valued and cared for.

Throughout this process, we provide benchmarks that allow us to track our progress, and we encourage detailed feedback from you. Our overall goal here is to enhance you and/or your child’s inherent strengths, thus enabling you to develop new skills that allow you and/or your child to cope with and eventually overcome difficult thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Our approach is present and future-oriented, meaning our work focuses on getting you feeling better as soon as possible and developing a road map of where you would like to go from here.

“No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.” ~ Buddha

Throughout the course of treatment, we will work collaboratively to access your strengths and continue to build upon them. In the short-term, it is my hope that you and/or your family can identify elements that have been hindering you and develop a clear picture of what your best life could look like. It is perfectly okay to approach this image with a mental pencil and eraser, and adjust as needed. At a pace that feels manageable for you, we will work together to create a clear image, as well as a plan to help you get there.

With help, you can find your best self and trust in your ability to be successful and maintain progress on your own. We are here to walk with you and be your flashlight through whatever dark time you feel lost in right now. And, it is our hope that all of our clients can utilize the skills acquired in therapy to experience more light, harmony and joy in life moving forward.
