Are You Feeling Stuck, Dissatisfied And Unsure About The Future?

Are you feeling lost in the midst of a major change? Perhaps you recently divorced or began considering divorce, graduated from or started school, changed jobs or moved to a new community. Or, maybe you are taking care of a relative, struggling to adapt to a chronic illness diagnosis, experiencing empty nest depression and may have recently become a parent or are struggling with parenting issues. Do you feel unprepared or even helpless to deal with these significant, perhaps sudden life changes? Maybe you’re concerned about making ends meet or maintaining a healthy work-life balance as you adjust to new responsibilities and expectations. Perhaps you feel alone and unsupported in your current role, and wish you could go back to the way things were. Without the right support, you may be overwhelmed with feelings of inadequacy and feel apathetic or fearful of the road ahead. Do you wish you had the tools, resources, and guidance needed to make empowering decisions to move forward?

Being a woman in the world presents unique and difficult challenges. You may be weighing the responsibilities of your career with your family and personal happiness, a balance that feels impossible to master. You might want to change careers, but doubt your skills and feel guilty about how this change could affect your relationships. You might wake up every morning feeling stuck or scared, yearning for a meaningful life without knowing how to create one. Persistent feelings of inadequacy and uncertainty may be fueling symptoms of anxiety and depression, such as lethargy, heart palpitations, and ruminating thoughts, which can negatively affect sleeping and eating patterns as well as your ability to feel like yourself. Regardless of the specifics of your personal experience, you may feel ungrounded and powerless to adapt to new circumstances or make positive changes.

Many Women Struggle To Find Balance

If you believe you lack the resources to accept unwanted circumstances or make empowered decisions, you are not alone. Issues that affect women, such as post-partum depression, pregnancy, motherhood, adapting to life after divorce and female medical conditions can be overwhelming. Add the stressors of everyday life and simply getting from point A to point B can become unmanageable. The stress caused by ongoing challenges may have you wondering if there is something wrong with you, creating a cycle of negative thoughts and emotions that become increasingly difficult to escape.

As a woman, you’ve likely been socialized from a young age to be nurturing and agreeable. Although support and care are often positive characteristics, when your commitments compromise what you truly want and need, you can start to feel lost. As you feel increasingly trapped and distressed, you may go online to distract yourself only to be met with happy faces posting about successes, which may remind you that something is missing. If you feel as though you lack the skills, support and resources to effectively move forward, or you are feeling directionless and confused, you don’t need to go through this alone. With the guidance of an experienced therapist, you can begin to relax, focus and pursue the life you truly want.

Women’s Counseling Can Help You Make Empowered Changes

Counseling for women can be incredibly effective in providing insight, support and new ways of approaching your struggles. Together, we will identify your goals, assess your resources and tap into your inherent strengths to establish a course of treatment geared toward helping you achieve your full potential.

Therapy offers a safe, nonjudgmental context for you to openly express and expel pent-up pain, frustration, and distress. During our sessions together, you can expect our undivided attention and support as we explore how your history and current thoughts and emotions influence the way you see yourself and the world around you. Once we’re able to identify and heal triggering and limiting ideas and emotions, we can explore practical options that allow you experience more ease, joy and freedom in your day-to-day life.

If the stressors in your life are causing or resulting from relationship issues, either with a partner, children or peers, relationship counseling can help you identify warning signs that lead to unhelpful and even harmful communication. We can also discover how the ways you resolve conflicts and provide support to others all contribute to your current dissatisfaction, especially if little room remains for self-care and fun. We will then establish and set boundaries that allow you greater agency and control. For example, if you feel like you consistently take on most of the responsibilities in your relationships, we can practice ways to assertively and thoughtfully voice your concerns when you’re feeling undervalued, insecure, sad, or stressed. During our sessions together, you can develop greater self-confidence and learn new strategies to support others and yourself in healthier, more authentic ways.

Our approach is client-centered and solution-focused, meaning our work together is completely tailored to your history, personality, needs, and therapy goals. For a woman who has changed careers, gone back to school, and become a wife and / or parent, we know what it’s like to struggle. But with the right support, it’s possible to replace shame, fear and negative thinking patterns with the ability to feel open and comfortable. In a compassionate environment, you can express yourself and learn how to make small, yet effective shifts that can lead to profound growth and transformation.

You may still have some questions or concerns about women’s counseling…

I’m so busy balancing work and life; I doubt I have time.

We understand how busy life can be. In the midst of all your responsibilities, we cannot stress how important it is to take time for yourself. If you never allot time to address your individual concerns, you run the risk of depleting your energy and feeling increasingly drained and lost. A little help can go a long way in empowering you to make the changes you need to relieve stress and move forward.

We also offer flexible scheduling options to all my clients. And, if you are located in North Carolina, we can provide online therapy sessions. No matter what you have on your plate, we believe we can make an arrangement that works with your schedule.

I’ve heard that therapy can be expensive.

Don’t let money stand in the way of what you need to feel whole. We do charge a reasonable fee, but if you can’t make that work, We’d like to discuss an arrangement that can. Our approach is solution-focused, meaning you set the pace and we work toward your individual goals. Counseling for women’s issues does not need to be long-term. A little help can go a long way in instilling profound and lasting change.

I feel trapped in my current situation, and I doubt counseling can help me.

In the midst of everyday life, it’s common for your true desires to be suppressed or replaced by the need to accommodate the wishes of others. However, in a safe, therapeutic environment with compassionate support, you can begin to let go and truly live. We believe that living according to your values and pursuing your true passions allows you to thrive and be happy. Together, at a pace that feels comfortable for you, we’ll explore your values and passions and develop specific pathways toward your goals.
